Injured transported by ground, air from wreck near Woodward

Several injured victims were transported by air and ground from the scene of a two-vehicle collision on Iowa Highway 141 about a half-mile east of the Woodward exit Saturday about 6:30 p.m.

The cause of of the accident is unknown at this hour.

A Jeep came to rest in the westbound lanes of the two-lane highway after suffering extensive front-end damage. The vehicle’s airbags were deployed.

A vehicle that appeared to be a passenger minivan came to rest in the north ditch of the westbound lanes about 10 yards behind the Jeep.

Rescue workers from the Woodward Volunteer Fire Department and the Granger Volunteer Fire Department used the jaws of life to extricate two victims from the minivan.

Victims were transported by the Dallas County EMS and an air ambulance.

The Woodward Police Department and the Granger Police Department also responded.
