For the second time in a month, a hydraulic-fluid fire at Osmundson Manufacturing west of Perry caused an evacuation of the factory.
No injuries were reported in the blaze, which occurred about 1:15 p.m.
“A hydraulic line fitting on the top of a press broke,” said Perry Volunteer Fire Department First Assistant Chief Brian Eiteman, “sending pressurized hydraulic fluid into the air and igniting and causing minor damage to insulation on the ceiling.”
The workforce was seen assembled on the south side of the building while firefighters quickly controlled the blaze.
A fire on the factory floor broke out Jan. 28 that involved similar equipment. One person was seriously injured in the January incident.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s office also responded to the fire.
